Welcome From Our Rabbi and Hazzan, Gerald M. Schechter
On behalf of Congregation Or Tikvah, I would like to welcome you to our mishpachah family. We are a mishpachah of old fashion values and new ideas. We are progressive and we are always looking for ways to enhance our service for our congregants, our community, and especially for our children. Speaking of our children, they are our most prized possession; our most valued asset at Or Tikvah. Children are the future of Judaism. They are our future. We welcome you all.
There is a large jewish population in Lake County and there are many mixed marriages. We include everyone in our plans, services and our great recreational activities.
Please join us at our weekly Shabbat services. Our Friday night service is very family oriented and all ages are welcome. At Saturday morning services we worship and study Torah together. Both services are often led by our students.
Thank you for your interest in our family. Please come and let us meet yours!
Rabbi Hazzan Gerald M. Schechter

Annual Or Tikvah and Light of Hope Community Closet Garage Sale Fundraiser May 30 to June 2.
One of our more successful fundraisers is the Annual Or Tikvah Garage Sale. This year we will have this at two locations with one being Or Tikvah and the other being Howard and Wendy Rood's home during their neighborhood garage sale weekend which will be May 30 to June 2nd. We will not be open on the Saturday for Shabbat. Please look through your garage and closets and if you have any items, big and small, that you would like to donate for sale please contact Howard Rood to make arrangements for pick up and storage until the event. Tax donation receipts are available for those that need them. We will be in need of volunteers to assist sorting items in advance of the events and also helping on the days of the events. Please contact Howard Rood @ howardrood@comcast.net with what you can volunteer for. We are also looking for individuals that can search Craigslist for free items being given away that would be worth selling and assisting in picking these up and storing them at either OT or Howard and Wendy's Garage. Please contact Howard in advance for direction on what we are looking for. Finally we need volunteers to help staff the sale on those dates.
